It remains to be seen whether or not the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will pick up the case – the matter will first be reviewed by national director of public prosecutions Mxolisi Nxasana before he makes a decision.
"The NPA will inform the public on the next course of action in this matter once the NDPP has applied his mind on the matter," NPA spokesperson Nathi Mncube is reported as saying.
Mpisane has not been let off scot free, however – she still has two other cases pending against her. In the Durban Regional Court she is accused of inflating Zikhulise invoices by almost R5-million to alleviate her tax bill.
In the Pinetown Magistrate's Court she is accused of interfering with a State witness related to the tax fraud case.
