The one-year ‘unwanted anniversary’ of COVID-19 restrictions

The Dullah Omar Institute is convening a webinar-series marking the one-year ‘unwanted anniversary’ of COVID-19 restrictions.

As part of this initiative, the Applied Constitutional Study Laboratory and the Socio-Economic Rights Project at the Dullah Omar Institute, University of the Western Cape invite you to a webinar on Covid-19 Vaccines and Human Rights Challenges. The webinar hopes to address issues such as accessibility, cost of the vaccines, the categories of people to prioritize, how to ensure equitable distribution, and whether the vaccines should be made compulsory.

Moderator: Gladys Mirugi-Mukundi, Dullah Omar Institute, UWC.

Opening remarks:
Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng, UN Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health .

Guest speakers:
Alicia Yamin, lecturer at Harvard Law School and Senior Fellow at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology and Bioethics.
Prof Francois Venter, divisional head of Ezintsha at the University of the Witwatersrand,  Johannesburg.
