To commemorate International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December, Corruption Watch has planned a range of activities to mark the UN-designated day and to heighten awareness of the impact of corruption.
The Corruption Watch team will launch a fresh, innovative animated video that highlights how corruption affects us all and why it matters to hold our leaders to account. In humorous, edgy, and satirical style, the video looks at how South Africa is run, who contributes to the public purse, and how state resources are allocated. It also shows who suffers the most when these resources are mismanaged, and corruption takes place. The video draws on the skills of local comedians and musicians. It will be accessible on our CW YouTube channel on the day.
On Saturday 9 December, Corruption Watch is hosting a talk-show-style event, #CWLive!, with 702’s Gugulethu Mhlungu as the host. The event will be filmed, and the focus will be on major corruption highlights during 2017 and their impact on all people living in South Africa – particularly young people. The audience will be comprised mainly of young people, members of civil society organisations, and community leaders.
