Applications for AG position now open, until 17 July

Parliament has issued a call for applications for the upcoming post of auditor-general (AG). The term of office of current AG Kimi Makwetu will end on 30 November 2020.

The Office of the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) is an institution supporting constitutional democracy, established in terms of sections 188 to 189 of Chapter 9 of the Constitution.

In accordance with the provisions of section 193 of the Constitution, the Ad Hoc Committee on Appointment of the Auditor-General hereby invites applications from individuals to be appointed as AG. The committee will make recommendations through a report to the National Assembly.

Conditions of employment

In accordance with the provisions of the Public Audit Act and the Constitution, the National Assembly must recommend a person for appointment by the president, for a non-renewable term of between five and 10 years.
